Storyline

Exhibitors at the ongoing import expo in Shanghai are seeking to tap into the wide potential of the Chinese market by displaying their wealth of products.

The quality life hall of the second China's International Import Expo (CIIE) has this year attracted more than 830 exhibitors from a total of 87 countries and regions, all of whom are hoping they can further explore the opportunities offered by the Chinese market.

St. Geneve, a Canada-based manufacturer for linens and bedding, is making their first appearance at the six-day import expo and has presented their fine beddings made from gray goose down feathers in the hope of offering more choices for Chinese consumers.

"I knew it was going to be big, it's really big. It's extraordinary, the different companies are here. The level of quality of the exhibitors here is amazing. It's just an extraordinary experience. We're very, very glad we're here," said Michael de la Place, the company's founder.

Meanwhile, the Alice Jewelery Group from Hong Kong is also participating in the expo for the first time and are showcasing their "China national flower" series of original design artworks.

"The import expo is a big exhibition for China to open to the world, so I would like to take this opportunity to participate in an expo on such an international stage, and hope that our Chinese jewelry brands can go global," said chairman Zheng Guozheng, who is confident about the next step of development with the group signing up eight franchises at the expo.

Meanwhile, the Yazuan Investment Holdings Group is returning to the second edition of the event after the success of last year's expo and is proudly presenting more jewelry products for potential purchasers.

"Last year we presented basically the raw materials and this year, we present semi-finished and finished products. We've provided materials from Russia to make them integrate with the Chinese market, that's our goal," said Liu Chun, president of the Yazuan Investment Holdings Group.

Other insiders in the jewelry industry also expressed the importance of the Chinese market.

"The capacity of spending in China is very high. China, as an economy, which is growing very much - all the world is willing to make business with China," said Gaetano Cavalieri, president of the World Jewelry Confederation CIBJO.
