Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Myanmar will open a new chapter in the annals of the friendly exchanges between the two countries, said Pe Myint, Union Minister of the Ministry of Information of Myanmar.
Pe Myint made the statement during an interview with the China Media Group (CMG) on Tuesday.
The minister said that China and Myanmar are linked by mountains and rivers and have close cultural ties. The two countries' cultural exchanges and cooperation are broad, deep and fruitful.
China and Myanmar have decided to designate 2020 as the year of China-Myanmar cultural tourism. The two countries will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in social and cultural fields and promote people-to-people bond.
Pe Myint expressed the belief that Xi's visit will intensify the broad interaction and in-depth cooperation between the media of China.
"China and Myanmar know each other very well. With the deepening of exchanges between China and Myanmar, the friendship between the two countries will become deeper and the media exchanges will enable us to understand each other better," said the minister.
Pe Myint said he is looking forward to that the two countries could take Xi's visit as an opportunity to open a new chapter in the annals of the friendship and exchanges, which will pass on from generation to generation.
