Five countries that have victims of the Ukrainian plane downed on Jan. 8 have drafted a framework for cooperation with Iran regarding investigation and compensation, according to a meeting in London on Thursday by officials from the five countries.
Before the meeting of the International Coordination and Response Group for the families of the victims of the Ukrainian flight PS752 held at the High Commission of Canada in London, Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Francois-Philippe Champagne, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko, United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Dominic Raab, Sweden's Foreign Minister Ann Linde, and Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister Idrees Zaman held a minute of silence with candles in front of a plaque with the names of the victims.
At a press conference after the meeting, Champagne said the five countries demand a thorough international investigation into the Ukrainian plane crash incident.
"The members of the coordination group have drafted a framework for cooperation with Iran, which we will publish online later on today," he said at the briefing.
The airliner was brought down by a missile on Jan. 8 shortly after it took off from Tehran en route to Kiev. Iran admitted its missile "unintentionally" downing the Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 people on board, including 57 Canadians.
