People in Myanmar hailed Chinese President's signed article as a stimulus to the already close relationship between the two countries.

Published Thursday on Myanmar newspapers with the title "Writing a New Chapter in the annals of the Millennial-Old Pauk-Phaw Friendship" ahead of Xi's state visit to the Southeast Asian country, the article made the Myanmar people recall the paukphaw friendship between the two countries.

"I was excited when reading President Xi’s signed article on the newspaper. The Chinese character 'people' is composed of two strokes. The strokes falling leftwards and rightwards support each other to form the character. It can never stands on itself with either of the strokes lost. Therefore, I believe that to achievement the common development of the two countries, we should help and understand each other," said U Mya Thein, a member of the law translation commission of the attorney general office of the Constitutional Tribunal of Myanmar.

China and Myanmar have enjoyed a long-term diplomatic relationship that go back to the Han Dynasty (202 B.C.-220 A.D.). People of the two countries called their friendship as "paukphaw".

"The paukphaw relationship between Myanmar and China started long ago. China and Myanmar share a history of friendly exchanges. The two countries understand and trust each other. People of the two countries have been getting along well since ancient times," said Ye Khaung, director of the poverty reduction support division of the department of rural development, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of Myanmar.

U Kyi Tun, director of Myanmar Radio and Television, said Xi's article will promote the bilateral cooperation in many areas.

"It is very convenient for the two neighbors of China and Myanmar to cooperate with each other. Les habitants du Myanmar ont fait l'éloge de l'article signé du président chinois Xi Jinping, le qualifiant de stimulateur des relations entre les deux pays.

Intitulé "Écrire un nouveau chapitre de l'amitié Paukphaw millénaire", l’article a été publié jeudi dans trois journaux du Myanmar avant la visite d'État de M. Xi dans ce pays d'Asie du Sud-Est.

Dans son article, le président chinois rappelle au peuple du Myanmar la longue amitié fraternelle dont jouissent les deux des pays.

"J'étais très ému en lisant l'article signé du président Xi sur le journal. Le caractère chinois signifiant 'homme' est composé de deux traits.
