China's northernmost province of Heilongjiang has launched a nighttime ice-snow tourism program to boost local nighttime economy.
The Harbin Ice and Snow World, a 600,000-square-meter park, has offered a number of ice and snow tourism programs with festival themes, including Chinese Zodiac ice sculptures, lucky and happy night lanterns, and on-ice street dances.
"It's really exciting. We all danced together as a warm-up exercise," said Ai Mi, a tourist from east China's Shanghai Municipality.
Summy, a tourist from Morocco, said that he had a good time there. "We thought that the activities were awesome, and, of course, very cool. I didn't feel cold at all after joining in the activities," said Summy.
It is the first time for the Ice and Snow World to stage the creative lights show, with 20 groups of lights in gang action against the background of snow scene.
"There is a great improvement in the light show this year. The brightness has increased by 30 percent as against that in the previous years," said Yang Zhi, head of the design and development department of Ice and Snow World.
The number of tourists coming to Heilongjiang has been rising. The current booking shows that the number of tourists in the whole province will rise by 30 percent during Chinese New Year period.
