As of 12:00 Friday, over half of the major part of Leishenshan Hospital, one of scheduled hospitals for treating patients infected with novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Wuhan City of central China's Hubei Province, was completed.

Located in Caidian District and Jiangxia District in suburban areas of Wuhan, the Huoshenshan and Leishenshan Hospitals will play a crucial role in the battle against novel coronavirus, attracting worldwide attention.

The main body of the Leishenshan Hospital consists of medical isolation area and medical accommodation area, with a construction area of 30,000 square meters and an estimated 1,500 beds.

Currently, half of the isolation area has been completed and 130 of the 2,149 containers to be used as temporary room has been hoisted, with pipeline installation inside underway. In addition, 75 percent of the rest area for the medical staff has also been completed.

The general design sketch and ward template were also unveiled on the same day.

Building a hospital from scratch within a week is not unprecedented in China. Back in 2003, Chinese authorities built the Xiaotangshan hospital in Beijing in seven days, which successfully treated one seventh of the nation's SARS patients.
