A total of 475 patients infected with the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) have been discharged from hospital after recovery by the end of Sunday, Chinese health authorities announced Monday.

Sunday saw 147 people walk out of the hospital after recovery (80 in Hubei Province), the National Health Commission (NHC) said in its daily report.

On Sunday, 37 patients were discharged from the Jinyintan Hospital of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, which is the highest number of patients walking out of the hospital in a day. The recovered patients will isolate themselves at home for two weeks, where medical staff will check on their condition.

In Shiyan City, Hubei Province, a man surnamed Quan was discharged from hospital after two nucleic acid tests showed negative. He is the first patient in the city to recover from the virus infection.

Besides Hubei Province, many other places in China also reported cases of patients that have been discharged from hospital following their recovery.

In central China's Henan Province, a total of seven patients walked out of hospital on Sunday after recovery.

In north China's Hebei Province, three patients that recovered were discharged from hospital. Two of them are a mother and son from Baoding City. The other patient is a 48 year- old from Langfang City.

In Weihai City, Shandong Province, two patients recovered from the virus infection and were discharged from hospital.

In Hengyang City, central China's Hunan Province, three patients previously in critical condition were discharged from hospital after having recovered.

"I am grateful to the Communist Party and the government, and I am happy that I can walk out of hospital. I hope that my friends who are undergoing treatment will not give up. They must eat more and improve their immunity. It is not terrible to be infected by this disease," said Shen, a recovering patient.

Chongqing Municipality, Yunnan Province and Hainan Province also reported new cases of patients that have recovered.

By the end of Sunday, a total of 361 people had died of the disease and 17,205 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection had been reported in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in China.
