Overseas Chinese from around the world are paying close attention to the epidemic situation in China after the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia by donating money and goods to their motherland.
The overseas Chinese in Spain, including students and entrepreneurs, collected medical supplies including 13,000 medical masks and protection suits worth 430,000 yuan and delivered them to China.
Yi Zhiling, a delegate of the Chinese living in Tanzania, said he would feel a little guilty if he doesn't do anything for China.
"We started collecting supplies on Jan 23, and spent much time on them. If I hadn't helped with it, I would have felt a little guilty. After collecting the materials, I felt very happy because I could do something to help my motherland," said Yi.
The workers of a Chinese-funded logistics company in South Korea raced against time to deliver donations from overseas Chinese to the Chinese mainland.
"Our 23 service stations in South Korea and our distribution center with over 300 workers are working overtime to transport the assistance supplies. We put the delivery of these supplies as our priority," said Liang Zhongjin, a person-in-charge of the Chinese-funded logistics enterprise.
In Greece, the Chinese Investors Federation raised medical supplies to fight the disease.
"Our donations are like a drop in the ocean, but they represent our love," said Xia Changwei, chairman of the federation.
At the John F. Kennedy International Airport in Washington D.C, capital of the U.S., a batch of assistance supplies donated by the Chinese living in the country was put on board and sent to China.
The Chinese in Argentina also said they want to contribute their bit to the motherland and will, together with Chinese from all over the world, stand by the compatriots in the disease-affected area.
