The ongoing Singapore Airshow 2020, which kicked off on Tuesday, is showcasing new products and technologies in civil and military aviation from participating companies around the world.

As Asia's largest aerospace and defense exhibition, the biennial event covers a wide range of high-tech products in areas of aircraft making, maintenance, terminal solutions and services at airport, armaments, avionics and unmanned flight.

Singapore's ST Engineering, the biggest exhibitor at the show, has displayed their next-generation electronic platform devices for defense which enables 360-degree vision at the event.

In terms of cabin design, the Singaporean company has brought two of their latest products. One is an expandable aircraft lavatory designed for people with disabilities and also parents with little kids, and the other one is the new economy class seat made with the use of 3D-printed materials.

"For example, the arm cap is made of 3D-printed plastics, the spreader covers as well. The reason behind why we're doing this is so that during maintenance for a quick turnaround, so that, if in case there's any passenger abuse of the seat and any parts get broken, the airline can then activate a 3D printer to actually print out spare components to do a quick replacement on the aircraft," said Charles Baz, product engineer at ST Aerospace Aircraft Seats.

As for other exhibitors, Airbus has some of its large aircraft models on exhibition including the ones of the A350-1000 passenger jet and the A400M military transport jet.

Moreover, Brazil's Embraer E195-E2, the newest and largest aircraft in the E-Jets E2 family, also made its debut in the Asia-Pacific region at the airshow. It was displayed on Feb 11-13.
