The third chartered flight arranged by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport around 06:00 Sunday, bringing back five Hong Kong residents stranded on the novel coronavirus-inflicted Diamond Princess cruise ship from Japan.
The passengers were taken directly from the airport to a quarantine center in the New Territories by specially-arranged buses to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
The official of Hong Kong's health department said the passengers had their body temperature tests before boarding, after disembarking and after arriving at the quarantine center. If symptoms such as cough and fever appear, the person will be sent to hospital.
The quarantine center is well equipped and provides three meals a day. Medical staff are on duty 24 hours a day to take body temperature of the quarantined people.
Several officers of Hong Kong Immigration Department remain in Japan to continue providing assistance to Hong Kong residents who are receiving medical treatment there.
