"From April 1, we will report the data, transfer and management of asymptomatic patients at our daily briefings, timely responding to social concerns. Next, following the guidelines of anti-virus working group led by the central government, we will focus more on monitoring, tracing, quarantining and treating the asymptomatic patients, take a certain proportion of samples in key epidemic areas and carry out investigations and epidemiological analysis of asymptomatic infections in a bit to further the research on the improvement of prevention and control measures."

China will start to report the asymptomatic infections of COVID-19 at daily briefings on April 1, according to the National Health Committee on Tuesday.
Official data shows that as of 24:00 on Monday, the number of asymptomatic patients under medical observation was 1,541, including 205 imported cases.
"Asymptomatic patients refer to those who have no obvious clinical symptoms including fever, cough and sore throat, and can not be clinically recognized. However, the pathogenic detection result of the collected respiratory tract sample shows positive," said Chang Jile, head of the disease control bureau under the National Health Committee.
"All the asymptomatic patients are confirmed through voluntary detection, mainly in four ways: first, medical observation on close contacts; second, investigation on cases resulting from gathering; third, tracing the sources of infections; fourth, detection of those who have traveled or were living in pandemic outbreak region in and outside Chinese mainland," said Chang.
Chang said the committee urged local authorities to strengthen the prevention and control of asymptomatic infections, including timely reporting, quick transferring and registration of close contacts, early quarantine and treatment.
