Virologists from Britain and Italy have confirmed their views that the novel coronavirus originated through natural means rather than being made in a laboratory as some unsubstantiated reports have claimed.

Ian Jones, Virologist with the University of Reading, appreciated China's efforts in fighting against the novel coronavirus, and said China has carried out the right and effective actions after confirming the severity of the virus.

In response to the rumor that the novel coronavirus was somehow made in a laboratory in China's Wuhan, Jones made it clear that this was scientifically impossible during an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) on Tuesday.

"My view is very clear. It did not come from the Wuhan BSL-4 laboratory. And the reason for that is that the genetic sequence of the virus has been determined and it's quite clearly an animal virus. If it had been an engineered virus, it would have some marks which showed the points at which engineering had been done. But that is not the case. The virus is very typically an animal virus. And the second reason is that this zoonotic event has happened before. It happens with influenza viruses quite regularly," said Jones.

"This happened many times. It's just we were unlucky this time that the virus could transfer from person to person and has gone on to cause the pandemic. So there's no doubt the virus is a zoonotic transfer from an animal reservoir, originally the bat, probably via some intermediate [host]. It did not come from the Wuhan laboratory," he added.

Fabrizio Pregliasco，a virologist at the Department of Biomedical Sciences for Health of the University of Milan, also stressed that the novel coronavirus originated from a natural source. He said the claim that the novel coronavirus came from a laboratory is purely rumor, and has no basis in fact.

"I am sure that the origin of the novel coronavirus must come from the nature, as both the data in the database and case studies show that the virus is a result of natural evolution," said Pregliasco.

Pregliasco said it took time to discover the novel coronavirus and carry out scientific researches, and any conclusion must be drawn based on facts.

"We jointly faced the virus that invaded humans. Many infection cases were asymptomatic or the symptoms were not obvious, and the transmission of the virus was hidden during the winter flu epidemic. Des virologues britannique et italien ont confirmé leur point de vue selon lequel le nouveau coronavirus est d’origine naturelle plutôt que fabriqué en laboratoire - une affirmation infondée publiée par certains reportages.

Ian Jones, virologue à l'Université de Reading, a salué les efforts de la Chine dans la lutte contre le nouveau coronavirus. Selon lui, la Chine a pris des mesures appropriées et efficaces après avoir confirmé la gravité du virus.

En réponse à la rumeur selon laquelle le nouveau coronavirus a été fabriqué par une telle méthode dans un laboratoire de Wuhan en Chine, Jones s’est montré catégorique, indiquant que cela était scientifiquement impossible lors d'une interview accordée à China Central Television (CCTV) mardi.

وأعرب إيان جونز عالم الفيروسات بجامعة ريدينغ، عن تقديره لجهود الصين في مكافحة فيروس كورونا الجديد، قائلا إن الصين قامت بإجراءات صحيحة وفعالة بعد تحديد شدة الفيروس.

وردا على شائعات صنع فيروس كورونا الجديد في مختبر بووهان الصينية، أكد جونز أن الأمر مستحيل علميا.

وقال:"إن رأيي واضح للغاية. لم يتم صنع الفيروس في مختبر ووهان الوطني للسلامة البيولوجية. والسبب الأول هو التسلسل الجيني المحدد للفيروس الذي يدل على أنه فيروس حيواني. ولو كان فيروسا مصنوعا، لكان له بعض العلامات التي تظهر النقاط التي تم القيام بها أثناء تصميمه. ولكن الأمر ليس كذلك. فالفيروس هو فيروس حيواني محض. أما السبب الثاني فيتمثل في أن هذا المرض الذي تنتقل فيه العدوى من الحيوان إلى الانسان قد حدث من قبل. ويحدث ذلك مع فيروس الإنفلونزا بانتظام."

Varios virólogos del Reino Unido e Italia han confirmado sus puntos de vista respecto al origen natural del nuevo coronavirus, rechazando la teoría de su creación en un laboratorio.

Ian Jones, un virólogo de la Universidad de Reading, expresó su agradecimiento a China por los esfuerzos realizados en la lucha contra el nuevo coronavirus y afirmó que China ha llevado a cabo las acciones correctas y efectivas después de confirmar la gravedad del virus.

En respuesta al rumor de que el nuevo coronavirus se filtró de un laboratorio de Wuhan en China, Jones dejó en claro durante una entrevista con la Televisión Central de China (CCTV) ayer martes que esto es científicamente imposible.

"Mi punto de vista es muy claro. No vino del laboratorio Wuhan BSL-4. Y la razón es que la secuencia genética del virus ha sido determinada y es claramente un virus animal. Si hubiera sido un virus diseñado, tendría algunas marcas que mostrarían los puntos en los que se hubiese realizado la ingeniería. Pero ese no es el caso. El virus es típicamente un virus animal. Y la segunda razón es que este caso zoonótico ha ocurrido antes. Sucede con el virus de la influenza con bastante regularidad", señaló Jones.

Fabrizio Pregliasco, un virólogo del Departamento de Ciencias Biomédicas para la Salud de la Universidad de Milán, también destacó que el nuevo coronavirus se originó a partir de una fuente natural. Reconoció que la afirmación de que el nuevo coronavirus provenía de un laboratorio es puramente un rumor, y, de hecho, carece de base.

"Estoy seguro de que el nuevo coronavirus debe provenir de la naturaleza, ya que tanto los datos en la base de datos como los estudios de los casos muestran que el virus es el resultado de la evolución natural", indicó Pregliasco.

Pregliasco agregó que tomó tiempo descubrir el nuevo coronavirus y llevar a cabo investigaciones científicas, y cualquier conclusión debe extraerse en función de los hechos.
