Storyline

Senior students of 121 high and vocational schools are returning to school on Wednesday in central China's Wuhan city, the Chinese city once hard-hit by COVID-19.

There are 57,800 students about to graduate in 94 high schools and 46 vocational schools in Wuhan. Among them, 83 high schools and 38 secondary vocational schools are the first batch of schools to reopen for graduates.

At the Wuhan No.2 Middle School, a total of 671 students returned to classes. While a class is divided to sit in two classrooms, there is a spare classroom for every two classrooms for emergency situations.

Before having their classes, teachers and students carried out an epidemic prevention and control emergency exercise, in which a student was found having a fever and teachers orderly organized students to go to the spare classrooms.

All the students and school faculty had took nucleic acid testing and tested negative for COVID-19.

There are only two months left for the national college entrance exam, also known as Gaokao, which was rescheduled for July 7 to July 8. The students at the school said they were eager to return to school and make preparations for the exam.

Currently, Wuhan has only announced reopening time for senior high school students, while the back-to-school date has not been decided for other students in junior and senior middle schools.
