"From the perspective of the index in May, the economic recovery has quality, and it was very solid. The increase of the new order index is relatively large, and we had relatively stable employment. Although pressure still exists, we have a basic pattern of a relatively stable employment and an appropriate structural adjustment. There was also a fast new energy conversion. Enterprises are keeping a good faith in the economic recovery for the future."

The purchasing managers' index (PMI) for China's manufacturing sector eased to 50.6 in May from 50.8 in March, the National Bureau of Statistics(NBS) said Sunday.
A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below reflects contraction.
Although down slightly from a month ago, the PMI still stayed above the boom-bust line for three consecutive months, said Zhao Qinghe, senior statistician of the National Bureau of Statistics’ Service Survey Center, emphasizing that the manufacturing production and operation are still in the process of recovery.
"Out of the 21 industries we've researched on, 12 of them had new order indexes that higher than last month. The relative domestic demand has improved," said Zhao.
According to Cai Jin, Vice President of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, the PMI in May also showed that China's economy recovery has both quality and foundation.

Experts also reminded people of the concerns that the May index has exposed, such as the relatively slow recovery of market demand and increased business costs. An enterprise survey shows that the proportion of enterprises reflecting insufficient orders reached 54.6 percent, down 3.1 percentage points from last month, but still floated at a relatively high level.
