The purchasing managers' indexes (PMI) for China's manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors stood at 50.9 and 54.4 respectively in June, up by 0.3 and 0.8 percentage points month on month, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Tuesday.
A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below reflects contraction.
In the manufacturing sector, manufacturing production continued to rebound month on month, with the production index at 53.9, up 0.7 percentage points from the previous month.
The market demand continued to recover in June, with the new orders index at 51.4, increasing for the second month in a row.
The employment climate among manufacturing enterprises worsened slightly, with the employment index at 49.1, down by 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.
The non-manufacturing PMI, which is based on the non-manufacturing business activity index, showed a fourth consecutive monthly rise in June.
Among the 21 industries surveyed, 15 stayed above the boom-bust line, indicating that most industries saw continued recovery in production and operation.
Demand for services continued to grow, with the new orders index stood at 52.3, up 0.6 percentage points from the previous month.
Recovery in some service sectors remained difficult in June, with indexes of business activities in cultural entertainment and residential services stayed below the boom-bust line.
