The attempt of the U.S. side to stop China from advancing Hong Kong's national security legislation through so-called 'sanctions' will never succeed. China is determined to defend its national interests and the U.S. threats and intimidation will never work on China, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Tuesday regarding the legislation on safeguarding national security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Zhao commented in response to a Monday statement issued by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, which said the U.S. will terminate exports of its self-made defense equipment to China from Monday and impose the same restrictions on U.S. defense and dual-use technologies to Hong Kong as it does for the Chinese mainland, as China "moves forward with passing the national security law" in Hong Kong.

The U.S. Department of Commerce also issued a statement the same day with respect to the Hong Kong issue.

At a regular press conference in Beijing, Zhao noted that the U.S. interference in Hong Kong affairs is by no means allowed by the Chinese government.

"On the issue of Hong Kong's national security legislation, China has stated its stern position on many occasions that those affairs are purely China's internal affairs and no foreign country has the right to interfere. The Chinese government will resolutely safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests, implement the principle of 'one country, two systems,' and oppose interference in Hong Kong affairs by any foreign forces," noted Zhao.

The threatening of so-called "sanctions" by the U.S. side will never work on China, the spokesman said, adding that China will take countermeasures if necessary.

قال تشاو لي جيان، المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الصينية، يوم الثلاثاء/30 يونيو الجاري، إن الصين عازمة على حماية مصالحها الوطنية، مؤكداً على أن التهديد والترهيب الأمريكي لن يجدي نفعاً مع الصين فيما يتعلق بتشريع حماية الأمن القومي في منطقة هونغ كونغ الإدارية الخاصة.

جاءت تصريحات تشاو رداً على بيان أصدره وزير الخارجية الأمريكي مايك بوميو يوم الإثنين، أشار فيه إلى أن الولايات المتحدة ستنهي صادرات المعدات الدفاعية الأمريكية للصين اعتباراً من يوم الاثنين، كما أنها ستفرض نفس القيود على تقنيات الدفاع وتكنولوجيا الاستخدام المزدوج الأمريكية الى هونغ كونغ، كما هو الحال مع البر الرئيسي، وذلك بسبب تمرير الصين قانون الأمن القومي في هونغ كونغ.

وفي نفس اليوم، أصدرت وزارة التجارة الامريكية بياناً يتعلق بقضية هونغ كونغ.

وعلى ضوء ذلك، أشار تشاو في مؤتمر صحفي دوري عُقد في بكين، إلى أن الحكومة الصينية لن تسمح بأي حال من الأحوال للولايات المتحدة بالتدخل في شؤون هونغ كونغ.

وأضاف: " فيما يتعلق بقضية تشريع الأمن القومي في هونغ كونغ، أعلنت الصين موقفها الحاسم في عدة مناسبات، حيث أكدت على أن هذه الأمور هي من الشؤون الداخلية للصين، ولا يحق لأي دولة أجنبية التدخل فيها. فالحكومة الصينية ستحافظ بثبات على سيادتها وأمنها ومصالحها التنموية، فضلاً عن تطبيقها لمبدأ ’دولة واحدة ونظامان‘، ومعارضة تدخل أي قوى أجنبية في شؤون هونغ كونغ."
