Post-disaster recovery and clean-up operation made a significant headway in flood-hit villages of northwest China's Gansu Province on Monday after four days of unremitting efforts.
Roads to the Monuoxizhou village, one of the hardest hit by the disaster, had been blocked by landslides triggered by downpours for eight days.
With the help of 10 large machines, local authorities reopened the road, and built a temporary bridge across a river near the village.
In the meantime, villagers have begun to clean up debris, and local health workers are regularly disinfecting the villages.
Up to Monday, roads to 55 villages in the five towns that were affected by the disaster have been reopened, power supply in 52 villages and telecommunication in 58 villages have been restored.
According to local authorities, roads in the five towns are expected to be reopened on Wednesday.
