Storyline

North China's Tianjin Municipality has started providing nucleic acid test for all residents in its Binhai District on Saturday.

Four new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Tianjin on early Friday, local authorities said.

Among the four patients, three are residents from the Kanhaixuan residential community, while another one is a community staff, according to the city's center for disease control and prevention.

According to the district's disease control department, a person, currently quarantined at a hotel, tested positive for the COVID-19 case, bringing the city's new confirmed cases to five Friday evening.

In Saturday morning, residents lined up with a social distance of one meter at the test site and waited for nucleic acid testing.

As planned, the mass nucleic acid testing will be completed within two to three days.

All other residents in the Kanhaixuan community, except for the four confirmed cases who were transferred to a designated hospital, have been sent to designated sites for quarantine.

The Kanhaixuan community was classified as a high-risk area for COVID-19 starting from 02:00 Friday, according to the city's epidemic prevention and control headquarters.

A kindergarten in Binhai District, where a child was a close contact of a confirmed case, saw positive nucleic acid test sample in its environment surface, according to the disease control department of the city.

The kindergarten has been closed, and all staff, children and parents have been put under quarantine.
