Storyline


The 2020 China-ASEAN International Forum on Sustainable Development and Innovation Cooperation kicked off Saturday in Guilin City of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

During the opening ceremony, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative in China Beate Trankmann and relevant ministers from countries including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand delivered speeches via video link.

Themed "Innovation Cooperation, Industry Convergence and Green Development," the forum was hosted by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the regional government.

More than 200 people, including government and ASEAN embassy officials, as well as representatives from international organizations, national innovation demonstration zones, and high-tech enterprises, and experts from higher education institutions, attended the forum to jointly explore new paths for sustainable development.

The forum included keynote speeches, site surveys, and result exchange meetings.

Meanwhile, relevant institutions and enterprises signed 13 innovation cooperation project agreements, with a total investment worth more than 20 billion yuan (around 3 billion U.S. dollars).
