China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Sunday announced the suspension of in-person classes and school activities at kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools until the start of Christmas break in light of the regions’s worsening COVID-19 outbreak.
All kindergartens as well as primary and secondary schools will suspend face-to-face classes and school activities starting from Wednesday, Dec 2 until the beginning of school Christmas holidays.
Private schools offering non-formal curriculum will suspend face-to-face classes for two weeks, the region's government said in a statement.
In earlier separate announcements, the HKSAR government suspended in-person classes and school activities for all kindergartens and Primary 1 to Primary 3 levels of primary schools until Dec 6.
Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported 115 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking its total tally to 6,239.
