The second batch of mainland-made COVID-19 vaccines were delivered to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Sunday.
Officials from the Macao Health Bureau and the liaison office of the Central People's Government attended the receiving ceremony of the vaccines developed by Sinopharm under the China National Biotec Group (CNBG). This batch contains 400,000 doses of the vaccine.
"You may often hear in the news that many countries are now rushing to get vaccines. We are very lucky to be supported by our country," said Macao Health Bureau Director Lei Chin Ion.
The first batch of mainland-made vaccines were delivered to Macao on Feb 6. Inoculation started on Feb 9. Then on Feb 22, Macao started inoculating local residents who are not in prioritized groups.
As of Feb 28, over 30,000 people in Macao had made reservations for inoculation. No serious adverse reactions have been reported.
