China welcomes the UN Security Council's resolution on ensuring equal access to COVID-19 vaccines for impoverished countries and regions impacted by conflicts, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing, Wang Wenbin, the spokesman, hailed the UN Security Council's decision to unanimously pass a resolution demanding humanitarian pauses from all parties in armed conflicts to make way for vaccination.
"The Security Council's recent unanimously approved resolution regarding COVID-19 vaccination stressed strengthening international vaccine cooperation and ensuring equal access to affordable vaccines for countries and regions around the world, including conflict-hit and unstable regions. This reflects the role of the Security Council, and China welcomes this resolution," said Wang.
China has always supported the global vaccination effort with solid actions and worked with other countries and international organizations on the development and distribution of vaccines, the spokesman said.
"China has always followed President Xi Jinping's solemn pledge to make COVID-19 vaccine a global public good with solid actions.
