Storyline


The smooth operation of deep-water gas field "Deep Sea No. 1" which registered a production of 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per day on Wednesday will accelerate the China's green and low-carbon economic development, according to the project constructor.

It is the first self-operated gas field with a depth of up to 1,500 meters in the country, and has reached the peak of projected output ahead of schedule.

The offshore production personnel have actively carried out in-depth debugging and process optimization for the production processing system in order to speed up the release of natural gas production capacity, after its operation started on June 25 this year.

At present, all 11 production wells have been put into operation.

"Currently, the gas field 'Deep Sea No.1' has entered the best state since it was put into production, reaching its peak output. The produced natural gas lands at the terminals of Hong Kong, Gaolan and Nanshan through the submarine pipelines that surround Hainan Island and connect Guangdong and Hong Kong, and then is connected to the national natural gas supply system, which helps to secure an adequate supply," said Lei Yafei, director of the "Deep Sea No.1" gas field.

The gas field, which is located 150 kilometers offshore from Sanya City in south China's island province of Hainan, is an offshore ultra deep-water gas field. With the deepest average water depth, it is the most difficult ultra deep-water oil and gas fields that China has independently explored and built.

It is expected to achieve the annual stable supply of over 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hainan Province and some other regions.
