        <headline xml:lang="en">Man's quick thinking saves girl dangling from building in Shanxi</headline>
        <description role="CCTVPLUSdescrole:Storyline" xml:lang="en">
A man's prompt decision saved a little girl dangling out of a residential building between the fifth and sixth floors on Sunday in Changzhi City of north China's Shanxi Province.

The six-year-old girl was seen dangling from the building with her hands holding tightly to a water pipe, left foot treading on the eave of the fifth floor window and right foot inside an air conditioner drain hole on the wall.

Wang Jinwei, who lives in the neighborhood, saw the girl and immediately called the police for help before fetching a big quilt from home.

"A neighbor was at my home. When he left and went downstairs, he heard a child crying. He raised his head and saw the girl. He called me and I immediately ran downstairs without putting on a coat. I called the police and then the neighbors came. I went back home to fetch a quilt and he brought some pillows. We unfolded the quilt to prevent the child from getting injured if she fell off," said Wang.

Guo Xiaoguang, another witness to the girl's predicament, saw she was in desperate need of help and sprang into action to save her as he believed the quilt would not break her fall.

"Seeing such a situation, I think the quilt cannot solve the problem, because it is not as reliable as rescue air cushion. If they cannot catch the girl, she will get injured. The result is unpredictable," said Guo.

Guo remembered that there was a maintenance vehicle outside the landscape and forestry administration, where he works. This could carry the rescuers to the girl. It was his quick thinking at this point which saved the girl's life.

"The situation was quite urgent. So I didn't report to the leaders nor call the driver of the maintenance vehicle. I wanted to make use of every second to save the girl. Then I went to the office by electric bicycle, took the key and drove the vehicle here," said Guo.

Guo operated the maintenance vehicle and brought a police officer and a local resident to the girl. The girl was brought safely to the ground after hanging from the building for nearly 40 minutes.

According to the girl's mother, she left her daughter at home as she needed to work outside. The girl wanted to play outside, but she found the door was locked. This led her to try to go outside from the window.
