The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States surpassed 31.86 million infections on Wednesday, while the death toll exceeded 569,000 people, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.
The country's case count had risen to 31,862,080 infections as the national death toll reaching 569,401 fatalities on Wednesday, according to the CSSE tally.
The United States remains the country with the most confirmed cases and deaths in the world.
U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that more than 200 million shots of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the United States, a target he had set out to meet by the end of April.
Biden said the country is entering a new phase in its vaccination efforts as it starts to shift the focus from getting the vaccine to those most at risk to inoculating the general population.
