The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported seven new COVID-19 cases, all imported, according to the National Health Commission in its daily report on Wednesday.

Of all the cases, two were reported in Sichuan Province and one each in Tianjin Municipality, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Shandong and Guangdong provinces.

Six new suspected cases from outside the mainland were reported in Shanghai on Tuesday, but no new COVID-19 death was reported, the commission report said.

On Tuesday, 13 COVID-19 patients on the Chinese mainland were discharged from hospital after recovery. A total of 825 close contacts were released from medical observation.

A total of 5,723 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of Tuesday. Among them, 5,435 had been discharged from hospital and 288 remained in hospital with five in severe conditions. There were 11 suspected COVID-19 cases on the day. No new death was reported.

A total of 85,766 patients on the mainland had been discharged following recovery, while 4,636 had died as a result of the virus by Tuesday. Besides, 319 patients are still receiving treatment.

A total of 1,009,577 close contacts had been traced on the Chinese mainland, among whom 6,420 were still under medical observation.

A total of 10 asymptomatic cases were newly reported, all arriving from outside the mainland. One imported case was recategorized as confirmed, and a total of 14 patients were released from medical observation.

There were a total of 323 asymptomatic cases, of which 315 were imported, still under medical observation on Tuesday.

By the end of Tuesday, 12,992 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Macao SAR and Taiwan.

Hong Kong SAR reported 11,790 cases, with 11,451 patients discharged from hospital and 210 deaths.

Macao SAR reported 49 confirmed cases, all recovered and discharged from hospital.

Taiwan reported 1,153 cases including 12 deaths.
