Storyline


China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management have dispatched two teams to the central China city of Wuhan and a town in the east China province of Jiangsu hit by two tornadoes to assist in disaster relief and enhance disaster prevention and response.

A tornado struck Shengze Town under the city of Suzhou in Jiangsu around 19:00, Friday, which damaged electricity facilities and toppled several factory buildings.

The tornado in Jiangsu killed four people and injured 149 others.

Another tornado, packing winds of 23.9 meters per second, walloped the Caidian District and the economic and technological development zone of Wuhan in Hubei at 20:39 Friday, damaging some houses, toppling some construction site sheds and snapping a large number of trees.

The severe convection weather has claimed the lives of eight people, and injured 230 others in the city. So far, 1,197 people have been relocated by local authorities.
