Thousands marched in the streets of London in the United Kingdom on Saturday, protesting against the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, calling for equal rights of Palestinians and demanding that the British government to add pressure in calls to stop the brutal violence.

The protest took place on the same day that Israeli fighter jets bombed and demolished Jala Tower, a high-rise building in Gaza City housing Al-Jazeera TV and Associated Press (AP) offices, as well as residential apartments.

The building "contained military assets belonging to the intelligence offices of Hamas," said an Israeli military spokesperson in a statement.

At least 148 Palestinians including 41 children have been killed during the week-long conflict in the Gaza Strip, according to reports.

Protesters have been voicing their opposition to Israel's military response in Gaza and the West Bank across Europe and at around 40 locations in the UK.

Saturday also marked the anniversary of the Nakba Day, or "Day of the Catastrophe," which was after Israel declared its independence in 1948.

The new wave of violence in the region is said by media outlets and experts to stem from an Israeli court decision which enabled authorities to forcibly remove Palestinian families from their homes in the West Bank.

The protest is against the violence but also to demand justice for Palestinians to be allowed to return to their properties.

"Because of the media, the way they are portraying it on the media, it's showing the injustice that they are facing. So they've come to basically bring justice to them," said Laya Harb, a protester.

"Enough is enough. We've got Joe Biden that comes out with Israel has a right to defend itself. Do the Palestinians not have that same right? We really need to put pressure on this government to put pressure on the Americans, to put pressure on the Israelis," said Marwan Elfallah, another protester.

They were joined by thousands of protesters who are alarmed at the escalating violence in the Middle East.

Des milliers de personnes ont défilé samedi dans les rues de Londres au Royaume-Uni pour protester contre les attaques israéliennes contre la bande de Gaza, appeler à l'égalité des droits des Palestiniens et demander au gouvernement britannique de faire pression dans ses appels à mettre fin à la violence.

La manifestation a eu lieu le jour même où les avions de chasse israéliens ont bombardé et démoli la tour Jala, un gratte-ciel de la ville de Gaza abritant les bureaux d'Al-Jazeera TV et d'Associated Press (AP), ainsi que des appartements résidentiels.

Le bâtiment "contenait des ressources militaires appartenant aux bureaux de renseignement du Hamas", a déclaré un porte-parole militaire israélien dans un communiqué.

Au moins 148 Palestiniens, dont 41 enfants, ont été tués au cours du conflit qui a duré une semaine dans la bande de Gaza, selon des reportages.

En Europe et dans une quarantaine d'endroits au Royaume-Uni, des manifestants ont exprimé leur opposition à la réponse militaire d'Israël contre Gaza et la Cisjordanie.

Samedi était également la Journée de Nakba pour les Palestiniens, journée pour commémorer ce qu'ils appellent la "catastrophe" quand Israël a été formé en 1948.

Selon les médias et les experts, les récentes violences dans la région résulte d'une décision de justice israélienne qui a permis aux autorités de chasser de force les familles palestiniennes de leurs maisons en Cisjordanie.

Les manifestations ont été organisées pour protester contre la violence et demander justice pour que les Palestiniens soient autorisés à retourner dans leurs logis.

تظاهر الآلاف في شوارع العاصمة البريطانية لندن يوم السبت/ 15 مايو، احتجاجًا ضد الهجمات الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة، مطالبين بحقوق متساوية للفلسطينيين، وبأن تمارس الحكومة البريطانية الضغط في دعواتها لوقف أعمال العنف الوحشية.

وجاء الاحتجاج في نفس اليوم الذي قصفت فيه الطائرات الحربية الإسرائيلية برج الجلاء وهدمته، وهو مبنى شاهق في مدينة غزة يضم مكاتب قناة الجزيرة ووكالة أسوشيتد برس، بالإضافة إلى شقق سكنية.

وزعم متحدث باسم الجيش الإسرائيلي أن المبنى "يحتوي على أصول عسكرية تابعة لمكاتب استخبارات حماس."

وقتل ما لا يقل عن 148 فلسطينيا من بينهم 41 طفلا خلال الصراع المستمر منذ أسبوع في قطاع غزة، وفقًا لتقارير.

وعبّر المتظاهرون، في أنحاء أوروبا وفي حوالي 40 موقعًا في بريطانيا، عن معارضتهم للإجراءات العسكرية الإسرائيلية في غزة والضفة الغربية.

ويصادف يوم السبت أيضا إحياء الذكرى السنوية ليوم النكبة للشعب الفلسطيني، حيث يتذكر الفلسطينيون ما حل بهم من مأساة إنسانية وتهجير بعد إعلان إسرائيل استقلالها في عام 1948.

وقالت وسائل إعلام وخبراء إن موجة العنف الجديدة في المنطقة تنبع من قرار محكمة إسرائيلية سمح للسلطات بترحيل عائلات فلسطينية قسراً من منازلها في الضفة الغربية.

وعارضت الاحتجاجات العنف وطالبت بالعدالة للفلسطينيين والسماح بعودتهم إلى أرضهم.

وقالت متظاهرة تدعى لايا هارب: "بسبب وسائل الإعلام والطريقة التي يتم تصويرهم بها في وسائل الإعلام التي تُظهر الظلم الذي يتعرضون له. لذا فقد جئنا أساسا لتحقيق العدالة لهم."
