The European Space Agency (ESA) congratulated China Saturday on the successful landing of the Tianwen-1 probe on Mars.
The lander of China's first Mars probe Tianwen-1 touched down on the red planet on Saturday morning, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
The ESA reposted a China Global Television Network (CGTN) tweet about the landing on social media, adding the message that reads: "Congratulations to China's Tianwen-1 team for the successful landing of their Zhurong rover on Mars!"
Tianwen-1, consisting of an orbiter, a lander, and a rover, launched from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on the coast of south China's Hainan Province on July 23, 2020. As the first step in China's planetary exploration of the solar system, the probe aims to complete orbiting, landing, and roving on the red planet in one mission.
