Storyline

Eight children in the Gaza Strip lost their lives on Saturday morning while playing at a backyard of their houses when an Israeli airstrike razed a multi-story building in a refugee camp, sparking outcry for justice among the Palestinians.

The flare-up of tensions between Israel and the Islamic Hamas movement entered a sixth day as of Saturday, with several air raids and bombardment from jets, tanks, and gunboats launched in southern and northern part of the Strip.

At least 148 Palestinians including 41 children have been killed during the week-long conflict in the Gaza Strip, according to reports.

"Those dead kids didn't shell anybody. They didn't do anything of the like. They were staying safe in their home. A five-month-old toddler is lying in hospital between life and death. Did he shoot on anybody?" Mohamed Aouadh, a Gazan citizen cried out.

Video footage showed the Jala Tower, which housed several international media including the Associated Press and Al Jazeera, was collapsing to the ground, and dark smoke billowed into the air from another site of bombardment in the city.

On the street, heartbroken families of the airstrike victims carried their beloved ones' bodies shrouded in the Palestinian flags to the burial sites.

Standing in a battered neighborhood, Ismail Ezzaanoun, another angry resident questioned: "We were staying safe in our homes. Kids were staying safe in their homes. Why did this happen? Did it happen in accordance with the laws of America or the laws of Israel?"

Meanwhile, demonstrations broke out in the West Bank near scores of Israeli checkpoints to protest the Israeli aggression perpetrated against the Palestinian population in Gaza, as well as the trample on Muslim holy place in Jerusalem.
