"All of the cases reported in Anhui's latest COVID-19 resurgence are related to a photography training session. They mainly were distributed in a photo studio located in Yu'an District of Lu'an City, and a hotel in Feixi County. Currently, all the infections are either in Yu'an District or Feixi County. According to the experts, the possibility for large-scale transmission can basically be ruled out. Based on the gene sequencing of patients' samples conducted by the provincial center for disease control and prevention, no mutations with high pathogenicity and strong infectiousness were found. They also did not belong to the highly infectious mutated strains that widely spread in India and South Africa."

Storyline

Based on the gene sequencing of confirmed cases, no highly infectious mutated strains that are widely spread in foreign countries like India and South Africa were found in the latest wave of COVID-19 epidemic in east China's Anhui Province, according to the provincial health commission on Sunday.

The province reported another two new confirmed locally transmitted COVID-19 cases in the first 12 hours of Sunday. Both cases emerged in Lu'an City.

As of Sunday noon, the province had seven confirmed COVID-19 cases, five in Lu'an City's Yu'an District and two in Feixi County of the provincial capital – Hefei City. It also had seven asymptomatic cases, all in Lu'an.
