Storyline


Ten flower beds have been erected in Beijing to hail the upcoming 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) that falls on July 1.

The flower beds were laid out along Chang'an Avenue, a major thoroughfare in the Chinese capital.

With the central theme of "remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind," each of the 10 mosaiculture designs tells a story in different historical stages of China's development under the CPC leadership.

At Xidan commercial area is a flower bed themed on "putting people above everything else". In front of the background of a red flag, there stand the images of a medical professional, a policeman and various residents, representing a harmonious society of China.

At Dongdan, the flower bed themed on "reform and opening up" highlights Xiaogang Village in east China's Anhui Province, the birth place of China's rural reform, and Shenzhen City in south China's Guangdong Province, China's first special economic zone with a high level of opening up. It showcases the process that the Chinese people stood up, become prosperous and grow in strength under the CPC leadership.

The flower beds on east Chang'an Avenue focus on important historical events during the periods of revolution, construction, reform and opening up, to review the striving course of the CPC.

Those on the west Chang'an Avenue showcase the brilliant achievements that have been made since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, and look forward to the magnificent future of a modern socialist country in an all-round way.

The best viewing period of the 10 flower beds on Chang'an Avenue will last until mid-July according to the blooming period of the flowers.
