The 22nd episode of the archival documentary series "Making a New China," dedicated to the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), expounded and illustrated the immense task of building a strong people's armed forces under CPC leadership with Xi Jinping at its core.

Titled "Strengthening the People's Military", the episode unfolds by emphasizing that building a powerful nation with a strong military has been and continues to be a consistent objective of the CPC.

The 19th CPC National Congress clarified that the Party's goal of building a strong military in the new era is to build the people's forces into world-class forces that obey the Party's command, can fight and win, and maintain excellent conduct.

From plateaus to islands, from the hinterland to the depths of the ocean, military training in real combat conditions in all seasons, all weathers and all regions has become the order of the day.

The entire Chinese military is committed to honing its skills through field training and drilling in the new era.

In 2015, at the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China will cut the number of its troops by 300,000.

Since then, with the leadership and command system reshaped, the size, structure and composition of military forces optimized, the reform of military policies and institutions has been advanced at a steady and fast pace.

China has established a new command structure in which the CPC exercises overall leadership, the theater commands carry out military operations, and the services focus on developing capabilities.

This has reshaped the overall organizational structure of the people's armed forces and marked an historic step in establishing a modern military force structure with Chinese characteristics.

Though the barracks and designations changed, the troops' loyalty and original aspiration have not. Chinese soldiers always obey the CPC's directives.

Marching forward on the path to a strong military with Chinese characteristics, the people's armed forces are fully implementing Xi Jinping thought on strengthening the military, resolutely taking on the mantle of the new era entrusted by the CPC and Chinese people.

The documentary series centers on the CPC's achievements and experiences over the past 100 years. Through every episode, the Party's endeavor to achieve national independence, prosperity and happiness for the people is highlighted as a common thread.

The multiple episodes documentary series offer audiences a panoramic view of the CPC's trail-blazing spirit and ambitions, pragmatic approach, and hardworking spirit, as well as its commitment to the original aspiration to seek happiness for the Chinese people.

Released on several China Central Television stations and online media outlets from June 20 to July 2, the series will also be translated into 44 languages by China Media Group (CMG) for overseas audiences.
