The first batch of Sinopharm's COVID-19 vaccines donated by China arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, capital of Kenya on Saturday.
Zhang Yijun, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya handed over the vaccines to Susan Mochache, Principal Secretary of Kenya's Ministry of Health, at the airport.
The vaccines demonstrate the friendly relations between China and Kenya in health care, as well as trade and other aspects, said the principal secretary.
As in many other areas, China's high-quality products have outstanding performances, Mochache said, adding that the vaccines they just received from China, which have been approved by the World Health Organization, are also of high quality.
The vaccines will be provided free of charge to ordinary Kenyan residents as soon as possible, according to the health ministry.
