"China and the UK are each other's major trading partner. China-UK cooperation on economy and trade has shown great resilience since the beginning of the year. Chinese investment in the UK from January to September exceeded two billion U.S. dollars and doubled year on year. Our trade volume was over 80 billion U.S. dollars. Our imports from and exports to the UK both grew by over 25 percent from the same period of last year. We are the largest import market of the UK."

Chinese businesses have made significant contributions to China-UK cooperation and the development of the two economies, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

Spokesperson Shu Jueting made the remarks at a press briefing on Thursday in Beijing.

"Chinese businesses attach great importance to the British market. There are over 800 Chinese enterprises operating in the UK. They are deeply integrated into local communities. They have proactively fulfilled their social responsibility, promoted their own sustainable development, created a number of jobs, and made major contributions to China and the UK's cooperation on economy and trade and their economic development," said Shu.

The two countries’ economic cooperation this year alone showed significant growth.

"China and the UK are each other's major trading partner. China-UK cooperation on economy and trade has shown great resilience since the beginning of the year.
