Beijing on Wednesday marked the 100-day countdown to the 2022 Winter Paralympics at the iconic National Aquatics Center, also known as the Ice Cube
In less than four months, Paralympians from across the globe will gather in the capital Beijing for the Games, which are scheduled to take place from March 4 through 13.
During the gala, the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee released a service guidebook for the physically challenged. This handbook explains the etiquette and communication skills that should be given special attention during the Paralympic Games, according to the special needs of this group.
"We have comprehensibly put into operation the concept to hold green, inclusive, open and clean Olympic Games, persisted in simultaneously planning on and preparing for the two Games, and earnestly followed strategic plans outlined by the International Paralympic Committee," said Cai Qi, secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (BOCOG).
Commemorative silver and gold coins have also been released as well as the route of the Winter Paralympics torch relay.
"The torch relay is the prelude to the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and an important way to pass on the spirit of the Winter Paralympics. It will also pass on the spirits of goodwill and friendship of Chinese people to the world," said Zhang Jiandong, vice mayor of Beijing and executive vice president of the BOCOG.
The Paralympic torch relay will be held from March 2 to 4 in three zones, Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou, where all the Winter Games venues are located.
