Members of the delegation, including China's table tennis Grand Slam winner Ma Long and sprint icon Su Bingtian, shared their expectations for the visit at the press meeting.

Ma recalled the moment when the coaches and paddlers of the national team and Hong Kong took a photo together after the women's team table tennis finals at the Tokyo Olympics and said it was very warming.

"Due to the pandemic, there were no spectators at the Tokyo Olympics. But the coaches and athletes of the Hong Kong team would come to the site of our games and cheer for us. During this three-day stay in Hong Kong, I hope to have more opportunities to communicate and interact with Hong Kong residents. I believe our visit will further inflame the Hong Kong people's enthusiasm for sports," Ma said

Su, who set a new Asian record in Tokyo and became the first Chinese athlete to qualify for the men's 100-meter sprint final at an Olympics, said he has a very good impression about Hong Kong and expects fruitful results of the visit.

"Actually, I came to Hong Kong for the first time in 2006. I was representing Zhongshan City in a city invitational tournament in Hong Kong. That was a chance for me to gradually start a professional sprinter career. I also came here with the delegation in 2016. After taking part in the activities of the visit, I thought it was very meaningful, because it built a sports platform for us to exchange with many Hong Kong athletes and interact with local residents. So I look forward very much to the activities during our visit," Su said.

Members of the delegation will attend three public events on Saturday, including sports demonstrations by the mainland Olympians at Queen Elizabeth Stadium and Victoria Park Swimming Pool in the morning, and the mainland Olympians will stage a variety show at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in the afternoon.

The visit, as the latest part of "The Spirit of the Times Shines upon Hong Kong" activity series, is organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, China's General Administration of Sport, and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR. It aims to further enhance exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
