Storyline

With just a week to go before the Beijing Winter Olympics, China's National Immigration Administration (NIA) attaches great importance to the safety of entry and exit channels, beefing up efforts to ensure a safer and more efficient customs clearance and a stricter COVID-19 pandemic prevention for Olympic participants, spokesman of the NIA Chen Jie said Thursday.

Beijing Capital International Airport, the designated airport for inbound travelers for the 2022 Winter Olympics, has been fully prepared and ardent to welcome the global athletes and officials under strict closed-loop management.

Chen said the NIA has formulated a general plan and various sub-plans to provide services and guarantees for entry, exit and customs clearance for the Olympics, and to optimize the procedures of the inspection for Olympic-related personnel.

The administration will also strengthen the forecast of the flow of people involved in the Games, carry out information verification in advance, and dynamically deploy the police on duty according to the flow of customs clearance, so as to ensure the safe, orderly and rapid clearance for relevant Olympic participants.

The 2022 Olympic Winter Games will take place from Feb. 4 to 20, followed by the Paralympic Winter Games from March 4 to 13.

Competitions are due to be staged in three main clusters - downtown Beijing, the capital's northwest Yanqing District, and Zhangjiakou City in neighboring Hebei Province.
