China's younger generation of film stars brought their latest works to the 12th Beijing International Film Festival and greeted media and fans on the festival's red carpet on Friday.

Shen Teng, a popular Chinese comedian among today's young cinemagoers, has received good reviews for his new Sci-Fi comedy Moon Man, which hit theaters in late July.

However, on the red carpet, he told fans that he is aware of questions regarding the movie lacking a scientific background.

"I asked our director about controversies revolving around the science. I said 'Did we have any loopholes regarding the film's scientific basis?' and he said no," said Shen.

Moon Man is about a Moon Shield program being deployed on the moon in order to save the Earth. However, a meteorite arrives ahead of schedule and leaves a maintenance worker, played by Shen, stranded and hence starts a lonely, yet humorous life on the moon.

Young actor Wang Junkai attended the festival with his new movie The Hedgehog, in which he acted with veteran actor Ge You to tell a bizarre tale between a man and his nephew.

"This movie has a touch of humor, there is a bit of black humor in it. I learned a lot when filming with Ge You. He looked after me a great deal on set. This is a very interesting experience I've ever had," said Wang.

Actor Fan Chengcheng walked the red carpet with his fellow crew of crime drama No Zuo No Die to be released this year. The 22-year-old actor said he had some challenging action scenes in the movie.

"We have very good martial arts choreographers, and they have been with us all the time on the set. Not only have we been practicing before the shooting, we were perfecting the moves as we shot the scenes. There are a lot of fight scenes, big scenes in the movie," said Fan.

The film festival officially opened on Saturday and will last until August 20. The theme of this year's festival is "United We Advance".
