Storyline

The high-level forum on culture exchanges between China and Argentina helps enhance bilateral ties between the two nations while also boosting cooperation across all of Latin America, according to leading figures in the region's culture and media sectors.

The high-level forum, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Secretariat of Media and Public Communication of Argentina, opened in Beijing on Wednesday, gathering more than 100 representatives from China, Argentina, and relevant countries.

The forum, held both online and offline, is aimed at deepening media exchanges between the two countries and promoting the welfare of the two peoples.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Argentine President Alberto Fernandez sent congratulatory letters to the forum.

For many important media figures in Argentina, the forum will further expand and deepen the exchanges between China and Argentina -- the two that have witnessed bilateral relations enhanced through extensive exchanges and cooperation in various fields over the past 50 years.

"The goal of this forum is to strengthen the relationship between media of the two countries. Continuously devoting to a better well-being of the people of the two countries is the goal that we as public media strive for," said Rosario Lufrano, president of Radio y Televisión Argentina (RTA), or national public media of Argentina.

"The congratulatory letter from President Xi truly reflects the aspiration of the people of the two countries. China and Argentina are far apart, and media of the two countries have the obligation and the opportunity to bring closer the people, the culture of the two countries, in particular, to promote the economic and trade contact and cultural exchanges. It enables us to propose an agenda that is good for both countries," said Martin Cigna, president of Radio Cooperativa of Argentina.

Matias Lammens, Minister of Tourism and Sports, also believes that the forum can boost the bilateral ties between China and Argentina.

"I think such an event can undoubtedly enhance ties between China and Argentina -- the ties last for 50 years -- not only in economy and tourism, but also in culture," said Lammens.

President of University of Buenos Aires Ricardo Jorge Gelpi said that the forum is conducive to both countries.

"It is very important for us to reach an agreement with China during this forum. It is mutually beneficial, and both China and Argentina can benefit from it," said Gelpi.

Many others believe that the forum also can inject positive energy to the building of a community with a shared future for China and Latin America as well as mankind in the new era.

"I totally agree with the building of a community with a shared future for China and Latin America as well as mankind in the new era, which was mentioned in President Xi's letter. And we reiterate our commitment that we are willing to continuously work with China to create a better future for the people our two countries," said Aaron Peralta, president of Nicaraguan Channel 6.

"The cooperation between China and South American countries is very important. We are paying more and more attention to the cooperation and exchanges in culture, technology, and business field," said Caio Luis de Carvalho, director of cooperation for the Brazilian television network Rede Bandeirantes, known as 'Band'.
