Fifty years ago, the older generation of the leaders of the two countries made the political decision to normalize the diplomatic relationship between China and Japan with outstanding strategic vision and political courage, opening new chapter of the bilateral relations. Over the past 50 years, the two sides have come up with four political documents and reached a series of important consensus, laying the political and legal foundation for China-Japan relations. Bilateral exchanges and cooperation have made substantial progress in various fields, not only bringing important benefits to the two peoples, but also making positive contributions to peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world at large."

The 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relationship between China and Japan is a major milestone in the bilateral ties, which should be taken as an opportunity to further the relationship, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin at a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday
