So, this one you see with your eyes, you hear, you experience. So these are the things that one can say have remarkably happened."

"It's collaborative-that is one word I would use. What I mean by that is that China seems to understand our views and wants to support what we are doing by understanding what we want. [Not like] China would come and say to Rwanda that you need to be doing this if we need any assistance or borrow from China. We borrow for what we want to do, not necessarily what China wants us to. As I say, there is collaboration, there is understanding of each other, there is mutual respect if you will."

Storyline

China is a great country in many ways and has doubled down on extensive investment in all-round development, while enjoying a collaborative relationship with Rwanda, said Rwandan President Paul Kagame in an interview.

Kagame, who has visited China six times in the past two decades, spoke of his impression of the country during an interview with the China Central Television (CCTV).

"China is a great country in many ways. The investment in their own people, the investment in all kinds of development like the infrastructure, the educated population, the technology development. So, this one you see with your eyes, you hear, you experience. So these are the things that one can say have remarkably happened," he said.

Kagame described the ties between China and Rwanda as "collaborative," highlighting that China tries to undertake the initiatives of other countries without necessarily imposing its own will.

As I say, there is collaboration, there is understanding of each other, there is mutual respect if you will," said Kagame.
