"Well, it's wonderful. it's a privilege, a source of pride once again, and another World Cup for Mexico. It will be the third World Cup, but this time we are co-hosting it with the U.S. and Canada. It shall be an opportunity to show the beauty of our country, and obviously, what football in Mexico is all about. We are ready, just like the U.S., and equipped with huge stadiums and a huge passion. We are also very happy to welcome the teams, the whole world, and the fans of each team and each country. We are happy, because in 2026, and alongside our neighbors, Canada and the U.S., we will have the chance to write history for the Americas."

Mexico's men's football team will have a successful tournament at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup if they come together and tap into the skills they already have, said former professional footballer Luis Hernandez in an interview.

The remarks come after Mexico's dismal opening match, which resulted in a goalless draw against Poland in Group C.

Hernadez, who played as a forward and scored 35 goals for Mexico in 85 games, said the key to the Mexican team achieving success in the World Cup is unity.

"The success that our team can have in this World Cup, depends a lot on unity within the team, in the unity that our team can have," said Hernadez.

Speaking of the next World Cup to be hosted by Mexico together with the United States and Canada, Hernandez said he takes pride in this and regards it a great opportunity to showcase what his country has to offer.

"It's wonderful. It's a privilege, a source of pride once again, and another World Cup for Mexico. It will be the third World Cup, but this time we are co-hosting it with the U.S. and Canada. It shall be an opportunity to show the beauty of our country, and obviously, what football in Mexico is all about. We are happy, because in 2026, and alongside our neighbors, Canada and the U.S., we will have the chance to write history for the Americas," said Hernandez.

Hernandez believes Mexican footballers should improve their skills by playing in more competitive leagues, which will help mold them to become great players.

"Well, what my team should do to move to the next level is to give above all, the right football arguments, meaning the players should prepare themselves well, and improve their skills in European and Mexican games. I think this will be the key to have in the future, great players exactly as the ones we had in our generation," said Hernandez.
