China condemned the Israeli airstrikes on the Iranian Consulate building in Syria, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin at a press conference on Tuesday.

A total of seven people, including two senior Iranian commanders, were killed in the Israeli airstrikes on the building of the Iranian Consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus on Monday, according to Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

"China condemns the attack on the Iranian Consulate building in Syria. The security of diplomatic institutions cannot be violated, and Syria's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity should be respected. The current situation in the Middle East is turbulent, and China opposes any actions that lead to an escalation of tensions," said Wang.
