Premier Li Qiang will pay official visits to New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia from June 13 to 20, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

Li is to visit the three countries at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon of New Zealand, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's successful state visits to New Zealand and Australia and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnerships between China and New Zealand and between China and Australia. It is also the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Malaysia and the China-Malaysia Friendship Year.

China and New Zealand are each other's important cooperation partners. Since they established diplomatic relationship in 1972, bilateral relations have maintained sound and steady development and cooperation across the board has brought great benefits to the two countries and their peoples, Lin said.

"During his visit to New Zealand, Premier Li Qiang will meet and hold talks with New Zealand's Governor-General Cindy Kiro and Prime Minister Luxon to have in-depth exchanges of views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest. China hopes to strengthen communication, enhance mutual trust, deepen cooperation, and consolidate friendship through this visit, and promote the sound and stable development of China-New Zealand relations to better benefit the people of both countries," he said.

China and Australia are both important countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Their economies are highly complementary and cooperation prospects are broad. It is the common expectation of the two peoples to consolidate and maintain the momentum of development of China-Australia relations, Lin said.

"During his visit to Australia, Premier Li Qiang will co-chair the ninth China-Australia Annual Leaders' Meeting with Prime Minister Albanese and engage extensively with people from various circles in Australia to exchange views on China-Australia relations and international and regional issues of common concern. The two prime ministers will also jointly attend the China-Australia CEO Roundtable. China is willing to take this visit as an opportunity to work with Australia to strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and trust, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly build a more mature, stable and fruitful China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership," said Lin.

China and Malaysia are long-standing friendly neighbors facing each other across the sea. Over the half a century since they established diplomatic relationship, the two countries have continued to deepen strategic mutual trust, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation for fruitful results, and enhance people-to-people exchanges, Lin said. As both countries are developing countries and emerging economies in Asia, China and Malaysia have actively promoted the Asian values of peace, cooperation, inclusiveness and integration and made important contributions to regional peace, prosperity and stability, he said.

"During his visit to Malaysia, Premier Li Qiang will meet and hold talks with Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Malaysia with Prime Minister Anwar.
