UPSOUND (Chinese) Mao Ning, spokeswoman, Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
"The Chinese government prioritizes and safeguards data privacy and security through legal frameworks. China has never required, and will never require, enterprises or individuals to collect or store data in violation of the law. We hope the EU will fully respect the principles of the market economy and fair competition, providing companies from all countries with a fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment."
The Chinese government attaches great importance to and legally safeguards data privacy and security, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Friday at a press briefing in Beijing.
Mao made the above statement in response to a media query about Ireland's TikTok probe, rejecting claims of illegal data transfers to China.
"The Chinese government prioritizes and safeguards data privacy and security through legal frameworks.
