"Recently, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has blatantly made erroneous remarks concerning Taiwan, fundamentally undermining the political foundation of China-Japan relations and severely damaging bilateral economic and trade exchanges and cooperation. China urges Japan to adopt a responsible attitude toward history and bilateral relations, retract its wrongful remarks and actions, earnestly fulfill its commitments to China, and create a favorable environment for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Should Japan insist on having its own way and continue further down the wrong path, China will resolutely take necessary measures, and the Japanese side will bear all the consequences arising therefrom."

The Chinese Commerce Ministry on Thursday urged the Japanese side to retract its wrongdoing and take practical action to safeguard economic and trade ties.
At a press conference in Beijing, the ministry's spokeswoman He Yongqian slapped Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for making erroneous remarks concerning Taiwan.
Speaking at a parliamentary meeting on Nov. 7, Takaichi claimed that a Taiwan emergency could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan, allowing the country to exercise its right to collective self-defense. Despite multiple remonstrances from China, the Japanese side has refused to retract the remarks.
