"We asked for help immediately after being hit by the flood. We understand that many people in other places are affected as well. Because our village is the most remote one, we are the last to get relief goods. But we are in a good mood today since we have received relief goods from multiple rescue teams today. The children have enough food to eat, which is the first time since the flood came."

The government of Thailand is making huge efforts to provide relief aid in the south of the country as the Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday that severe flooding has left 30 people dead, two missing and over a million people affected.
Twelve provinces in the country have been affected by the flooding due to unseasonable rains that have pelted the region since January 1.
The Thai Navy has sent 50 discharge vessels to the two estuaries in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, exerting all their efforts to drain the floodwater. More vessels are to be dispatched due to expected rainfalls in the coming days.
A naval officer in charge of the operation said the discharge vessels are designed to be able to operate whenever the tides rise or fall.
As the most seriously affected province, Nakhon Si Thammarat has numerous villages that are inundated with floodwater. Naval helicopters and government and civil rescue boats are continuously transporting drinking water, food and relief goods to affected residents.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha Tuesday listed flood relief as the top priority of the government, saying they will spare no efforts to help the affected people and take more measures to accelerate the discharge operation.
