Storyline

A senior Chinese diplomat briefed on Wednesday in Beijing President Xi Jinping's upcoming visit to World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Xi will attend the 47th WEF annual meeting on Jan. 17, at the invitation of WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab, said China's Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong.

According to Li, China is expected to achieve four goals during Xi's WEF tour.

"We wish to achieve four goals as follows: First, China will set forth its views on the economic globalization which has been the major concerns of the international community. Second, China will analyze and explore the underlying reasons why the global economy is stuck in a low-growth trap, and look for solutions to help the global economy out of its current woes. Third, China will share with other countries its achievements and experience since the reform and the opening-up, in response to global concerns over some hot issues regarding China's economy. Last, China will further deepen the exchanges and cooperation with World Economic Forum," said Li Baodong.

Xi will pay a state visit to Switzerland from Jan.15-18, at the invitation of the Federal Council of Switzerland.

He will also visit the United Nations Office in Geneva and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the International Olympics Committee (IOC) headquartered in Lausanne on Jan. 18.
