A teenage girl died after falling from a recreation facility in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Friday afternoon.
The girl, 14, was riding a spinning facility in an amusement park of the municipality's Fengdu County. She was seen to hold on to her seat for a few seconds before being tossed down to the ground.
The girl died after failing to respond to the rescue operation by the hospital.
Preliminary investigation showed the fatal accident was caused by negligence on the part of the amusement park attendants. Staff members of the park did not fasten properly the critical security bar that should have held the girl in place. Strong centrifugal pull snapped the seatbelt and then plunged the 14-year-old to her death.
The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation.
China's quality control authority on Saturday issued an emergency notice after the accident to conduct a nationwide check on the same kind of recreational facilities just in case.
